HOW WE MET
We first met on Match.com in March 2009. Meagan first checked out John and John took notice! He sent Meagan a message that said, among other things, that while he may not meet all of her "criteria" (she WAS rather picky), he couldn't pass up the opportunity to e-mail her because she might just be the most fantastic woman he'd ever have the chance to meet. Little did she know he would be equally fantastic.
It was love at first sight. On our first date at Saltgrass Steakhouse, we literally shut the place down. We've been inseparable ever since. Meagan spent many months traveling up to Katy to meet John after work until moving outthis way so that they could be closer. Meagan's young son Brian instantly took to John and they have become best buddies, playing Wii, reading books, and walking to school together in the mornings.

THE BRIDE
Meagan is Compliance Administrator in the legal department at
Weatherford International, an oil and gas services corporation. Following five years of work as an editorial assistant, Meagan began working in the legal field in 2001. She is very much enjoying her current career in ethics and compliance. Meagan is Mom to Brian (6), our super-smart, full-of-energy boy. When not working, she is developing her cooking skills, plotting home renovations with John or just relaxing on the couch with a good book and a glass of wine.

THE GROOM
John started his own company in 2001 and "retired" from corporate America in 2004. He's been an adjunct professor of visual communications for almost 10 years and enjoys mentoring the next generation of web designers, multimedia developers and animators. Most recently he climbed the property ladder by flipping his own house and is now in the process of flipping the next one while he works on his real estate license. All these together comprise his "day jobs" while he scours the internet for bargains and sells them on eBay at night.

HOW WE GOT ENGAGED
It was Halloween night, soon after the boys returned from a fun night out trick-or-treating. Brian came up to Meagan and told her he had some candy. She turned it down and told him to go upstairs. John said, "Honey, he really wants to give you this candy." Brian then said, "Yeah, Mommy, it's rock candy." Meagan still thought the boys were just joking around, especially when Brian handed her an empty Tootsie Roll wrapper. She soon discovered that there was a beautiful ring inside, an heirloom from John's great-grandmother with a new stone he had purchased. John dropped to one knee and proposed. Meagan said yes and then Brian spent a few minutes yelling, "Ew, cooties!" while they kissed. |
